Chance.

That's all that made this photo. Not some divine whatever where I stood, previsualised and waited for that "decisive moment" to materialise.

I'd just missed my tram and was standing around, twiddling my thumbs wondering what to do with the next 15 minutes. I decided to take a meter reading on my camera, see if it was going to be worth walking around taking photos on that miserable day when I had ISO100 film loaded.

Then this guy jumped into the frame and... *click*.

Reason I mention this is because when I submitted this for a class assignment under the topic of "use of lines", I got a lot of ooh and ahh and cartier bresson and decisive whatnot.

There was nothing decisive about what I did. I was bored and annoyed that I had to wait 15 minutes for a tram to come.

That was it.

Just something I wanted to say after reading Keith's 5 Reasons I hate street photography all those weeks ago.

Why not just push it! A nice moment, decisive or not.

In the movies, you don't photograph the reality. You try and photograph the photograph of the reality - SK
